Perched atop the eastern hill in Lisbon sits Sao Jorge Castle. Follow the narrow lanes in Alfama to the top. Since the 12th century, the castle has served as a royal palace, a military barracks, home of the Torre do Tombo National Archive, and now as a national monument and museum. There are beautiful views to be seen from the top of the hill, and you can walk up and down along the castle walls. It is really more of a citadel, with a castle inside. We stopped for lunch while we were there. It's a perfect place for pictures!
