Rouen is a lovely little town that is the capital of Normandy. I arrived via the RER train mid-day and checked into our hotel, the adorable Hotel des Carmes. We got some kebabs for lunch and then walked over to the church, the Cathedral de Notre Dame. It was a very beautiful Gothic church. It is very interesting because it has two uneven towers, built that way on purpose. The northern tower is Tour St Romain and the later Tour de Beurre was supposedly paid for by a tax on butter consumption during Lent. It was a great little visit and a highlight of the town!
