Rewards Rental - get the damage waiver

Mingus, TX, United States

Whenever you rent a car, the rental car agency will invariably offer you a variety of insurance and other protection plans. Normally, I decline them all. I have insurance through my regular Auto Insurance Agency, and I have coverage through my Arrival Plus card from Barclays. Thus, I prefer to save money and not purchase protections that I do not need.

You might be surprised that I chose to make an exception for a recent trip to Dallas. I had enough rewards points with Enterprise to cover a three-day rental. Thus, I would not have to pay for the rental with a credit card. I only needed the credit card for the deposit. Do you see where this is going? That is right, a person might want to get the damage waiver when they do not use the credit card to pay for the rental. Holding the rental is not the same thing as paying for the rental. See how that works?

In addition, I knew that I was going to be driving around Dallas-Fort Worth where the chance of an accident is higher than it would be in a rural area. Furthermore, there was a slight chance of severe weather.

After taking all of these factors into consideration, I decided to go ahead and purchase the damage waiver.

Oh, and guess what? I am almost positive that I got the exact same rental car that I took to El Paso. What is the odds of that?

Good thought because you would think that because I used my card as a hold it would be honored but the micro print has it in section 12, subsection 12.3241, paragraph D, sub sub section 🤣 Thanks for the info!

Yes, always read that fine print. I am glad that I did.
