When it comes to a scene that typifies the rural areas of a good deal of the US, a red barn set amidst the fields might take the cake. Heck, it is such a common sight in my former home state, er... Commonwealth, of Kentucky, that my alma mater has a building on campus officially named "The Red Barn." Red barns became a thing out of necessity: you had to paint the wood so it wouldn't rot, and red used to be the cheapest color of paint. This particular barn was the nicest I'd seen on this trip. It is yuge, has some nice architectural features and sports a nice metal roof which requires no replacing.
