Sometimes you get the most perfect blue crystalline clear sky to hike to. Especially given certain seasons, and particularly those with very cold evenings then followed by cold mornings the skies can exacerbate the low temperatures. Walking out of our point of lodging one night with friends we had met to hike with, we were headed up one of the many steep sided and forested slopes that make skiing so great up here, too. But on a morning with temperatures below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, all the colors pop that are still out and around. We got lucky with this bright red climbing vine with berries – a beautiful part of New York to hike through!
