Qi Bao is a classic water town in a suburb of Shanghai. Take line 9 to "Qibao", then follow the signs. Unlike other water towns, there is no admission charge, but you get what you pay for.
There's really just 1 or 2 main streets, which are very dense, tight pedestrian alleys, lined with street food, gift shops, and restaurants. It's a nice area, but a little small. You can finish here in under 2 hours. The surrounding blocks are all normal-style concrete bridges and big apartment buildings.
