Pope John Paul II was very connected to Poland, and especially Krakow. He was born in a small town not far from Krakow, and Krakow has sort of decided to adopt him. At the Wawel Royal Castle, a statue of the late Pope stands tall. It is not that exciting, but for some reason it caught my eye because it was so lifelike. Sometimes statues don't even really look like who they are created for, but this one looked just like him. The statue was also put between two Christmas trees and they decorate it nicely each winter, which I thought was a nice touch.
