Plaza de Armas de Lima

Lima, Callao Region, Peru
13 Kudos
Just like any South American cities, the epicenter of the old historic downtown of a town is always the Plaza de Armas. Lima is no exception and the Plaza de Armas de Lima or also called Plaza Mayor is essential center of the city as well as where the current city started hundreds of years back when conquistadors arrived. The plaza is the place where you can see so many historic buildings as the square is completely surrounded by the Cathedral of Lima, Archbishop's Palace of Lima, Palacio de Gobierno del Perú, Palacio Municipal de Lima, etc. All other buildings surrounding the square look very historic although the first floor is heavily commercialized to provide needs for nonstop plaza visitors.
