Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, also called “Place of Refuge.” Imagine you had just broken the sacred laws, the kapu, and the only punishment was death. Your only chance of survival is to elude your pursuers and reach the Pu'uhonua, a place of refuge. Today this serene and lovely beach is just a park, but it has a very calming vibe to it. There are guided tours through the reconstructions of traditional buildings, but we only had time for a quick visit. I would like to go back here with more time to explore.
