Heading south into California on the coastal Highway 101 looking for some redwood trees, we saw signs advertising a roadside place called "Trees of Mystery". Once we arrived there, we decided that it looked a little too touristy and time consuming, and from what we read online, it was mostly just a gift shop and interpretive trail about trees, which we could get elsewhere for free. So we never got out of the car there, but we did snag a picture of their signature sculpture pieces, the oversize renditions of good old Paul Bunyan and the Blue Ox. These legends of the northern forests are depicted in a lot of places around the country, with the ones in Bemidji Minnestoa considered the 2nd most photographed statues in the US behind only Mt Rushmore. I'll bet the owners of the Trees of Mystery would like their Paul and Ox to get that popular!
