PARIS VACATION

We took Are Lingus Bos-Paris. Once in Paris we stayed at Hotel Floride Etoile. The hotel was a great location to walk to the Arc de Triomphe, champs d’Lysee, and eiffel tower. The hotel had wifi. Did not see much of a view (but didn’t care to spend time in the room much anyway!) The hotel staff was friendly and spoke English which was an advantage for us. Around Paris we took the L’open Tour bus which is a “Hop On/Hop Off” bus for 2 days - cost 74 euros for 2 people. We highly recommend this bus, as it will bring you directly to all of the major attractions — You could stay on the bus for an entire loop and still be able to see everything and take pictures. It is great to listen to get to know each site as well.. it’s perfect for small children or those who want to see a lot in a little time or those who don’t care/can’t walk too much. It also gives you an idea of what you want to see and can then plan accordingly of where you want to get off. There are 3 different loops that these buses take (look for the color on the bus to determine which is which). While there we saw many attractions including Musee du Louvre museum, eiffel tower, arc de triomphe, walked along and shopped the champs d’lysee, notre dame, Sacre-Coeur, Musee d’Orsay, The Pantheon, Hotel des Invalides, Statue of Liberty, etc. For the eiffel tower we climbed the stairs to the second level. The line moves quicker if you go in the climbing line vs. the elevator line and it’s pretty cool to see the sites as you continue to travel upward and truly appreciate the architecture of it all. Musee du Louvre also has a large line, but moves fairly quickly and worth it to see some pieces of art in there (I won’t name them but can if you ask). Our favorite part of Paris was probably the dinner boat cruise — Bouteaux Parisiens - it was a cruise on the Seine river to site see with a really great meal with all courses and pretty much endless wine. The boat is enclosed for dinner but there is a boat deck - We highly recommend this while you are there if you want a fancy, sophisticated meal and activity to do - and don’t forget to go outside at times and take pictures - especially of the eiffel tower at night and the statue of liberty (you can get both in one shot too). Similarly, if you don’t want the dinner aspect, you could do the Beauteaux Mouches which is a day time site seeing cruise without food but you still get the ride and see all the sites. At night time, once dark, visit the Eiffel tower - it is different from day and night and every hour on the hour, it’ll light up with even more lights! The Louvre is another site which is cool lit up at night to see from the outside. While in Paris, if you are with a loved one you could visit Pont des Arts, also known as the “Love Bridge” known for people attaching a lock onto the chain link fence across the bridge and then throwing the key overboard. People are selling locks on the bridge, along with markers to sign it or engraving for 3 dollars to have it engraved. Overall, as with any city you travel, but especially over here, be careful of pickpocketers. They often try to in crowded spaces in which they are very close to you, when offering you help with directions, when distracted when talking to others trying to get you to sign a petition, or any time you put something down - even if you are next to it. Overall though, we were there for 2 days during a 2 week long vacation, and is on our list of places we would go back to again!!
