The Notre Dame Cathedral is one of the most famous buildings of all time. It is a medieval building and is considered to be one of the best examples of French Gothic architecture. The building is truly impressive from any perspective, but even more so when you consider that it was built in the 1300's. The height of the spires is three hundred feet. That is a football field! The exterior is particularly pleasing to the eye at night when the facade is beautifully illuminated. A lot of people don't know that there's a spiral staircase to the top of the exterior where tremendous views can be had. Of course, whether this is open to the public is subject to change due to the unfortunate security issues confronting Paris today.
