Rustic Hotel. Very close to I-70 is a pastoral rural area. Great views of the Flint Hills. Easy drive to Manhattan, Junction City, and Topeka. Requires traversing a dirt road and a low water crossing. Road will be impassible after rain or snow, even if you have a Jeep.Okay, this is not your average hotel review. The Blasing Hotel was a historic hotel that has been in ruins for decades. It was located at the site of Blasing Spring in a very rural area of Kansas. There are no towns within several miles of the site, but Interstate 70 passes within a few yards of the site just east of Grandview Plaza and Fort Riley.
Blasing Spring was said to contain a variety of minerals that would cure all that ails you. Such spa treatments were popular in the Victorian Era. The hotel served those who visited to take the waters.
I managed to catch the road when it was just barely passable. I do not recommend visiting this site in foul weather as you WILL get stuck in the mud. If you are in the area when the road is dry, the old site of Blasing Spring is a cool place to visit.
