When we first started dating, my husband and I were both in need of a vacation. However, with limited funds and only a short amount of time left that summer, our options were slim. We hit on the idea of a long weekend in NYC, since it was within driving distance, and he had never been. In 2 1/2 days, we covered all of Manhattan by foot, seeing Central Park, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Times Square, the WTC site, the tip of Battery Park for a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty, FAO Schwarz, the New York Public Library, and, of course, Tiffany (the look of agony on my then-boyfriend's face when he realized there was more than one floor was priceless). For such a short time in the city, we managed to see as much as we possibly could. And, although we look back and say "What were we thinking, going out of town together when we had only been dating for a matter of weeks?," it's one of our favorite trips to reminisce over.
