The Museum of the Cherokee Indian is a great place to spend a couple of hours to get a better understanding on how the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians remained on the reservation in Cherokee, NC. The exhibits are very informative and they have several artifacts to view as well. The museum is located in the heart of the town and is easy to spot by the incredible wooden Native American statue made from a redwood tree from California. The tears on the statue represent the beginning of the Trail of Tears which starts in this area. Make the time to see this museum if in the area.
