A short vaporetto trip from Venice brings you to the island of Murano. Most people know Murano for its famous “Murano Glass”. When you step off of the vaporetto, it is immediately clear that Murano is famous for its glass. There are shops selling glass jewelry, figurines, Knick knacks, light fixtures, and glasses and plates everywhere. There are also several glass factories where you can actually watch the process (most charged €3/person to watch, but offered reimbursement if you ended up buying something from them) It was very neat to watch them create items with the hot glass. The one we watched, they made a small vase and a horse figurine tearing up on its hind legs. (I don’t have any pictures of this on my phone, only my camera, so I will try to remember to add pictures once I get my cameras pictures uploaded and sorted!) I ended up buying a few pieces of jewelry as souvenirs and everyone loved them!
