The Harry S. Truman Little White House in Key West, Florida was more than a vacation home to President Truman. Since 1890 the Little White House has served as Naval Station Command Headquarters during three wars, the Spanish-American War, World War I and World War II. Only in 1946 is when President Truman began using the Little White House as a winter get away. The Little White house was also used as a site by other US Presidents for Cold War responses. After the US Naval Submarine base closed in 1974 the Little White House was not used for twelve years and then restoration began and it became what it is today. Today the Little White House is a public museum and a retreat used by governments and businesses.
