Across the street from my hotel, Terrass, in Montmartre, in the eighteenth arrondissement of Paris, was the Montmartre Cemetery where many famous people are buried. The cemetery was established in the early nineteenth century but people are still being buried there. In those days the burial style was to build a substantial monument in honor of the deceased person. There are guided tours of the cemetery available but there are also guide maps available that show the locations of the deceased. Among the people buried there are Alexandre Dumas, who wrote The Three Musketeers, Hector Berlioz, the famous musician and Edgar Degas the famous artist.
