Molecule Man

12435 Berlin, Germany
13 Kudos
During our boat tour in Berlin we went along a part of the Spree River that passes through the former East German district Treptow that used to be home to all kinds of industry. Shortly before we arrived at the Elsenbruecke (the bridge you can see in the back of the photo), we came to see the "Molecule Man". The aluminum scultures (there are actually three men) was designed by the American artist Jonathan Borofsky. They have hundreds of holes that are supposed to represent the molecules of human beings. Similar sculptures are installed at various locations around the world. A related sculpture is the "Hammering Man" which I discovered in Chicago, Frankfurt and Los Angeles. No idea if there are more somewhere else.
