Minneapolis Fire Department Fakes A Waterfall

Back in 1964, Minnesota Governor Karl Rolvaag wanted to show off the Minnehaha Falls to visiting President Lyndon Baines Johnson and Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey. It seems Mother Nature had another thing in mind. At the time, the city of Minneapolis was experiencing a drought and the waterfall was, well, a trickle instead of a gusher. But not to worry, the Minneapolis Fire Department came to the rescue. The opened up nearby fire hydrants and in a secret move, the creek was filled with water. Oh well, it made for a good photo op and proved once again how forthcoming the leaders can be. Or not.
