Another place not to miss in the Death Valley National Park is the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes. It is close to Stovepipe Wells where you can briefly chill your body tortured by extreme heat in heavenly air conditioned store. The sand dune is right next to the main road 190 and there is a parking lot for the sand dunes. Once you walk in the sand dunes. all of a sudden you are in a desert like Sahara. All you can see is endless sand dunes and mountains on the background far away. It was not as dramatic as Great Sand Dunes in Colorado or White Sands in New Mexico, but certainly the Mesquite Sand Dunes has its own charm. The only thing to consider is it is unbearably hot in summer and difficult to walk.
