A favorite activity in the summer, especially for my son is to roast marshmallows over the campfire. He likes to make smores of different varieties, his favorite is using a Reeses Peanut Butter cup in place of the chocolate bar. (my favorite too) We have also tried Keebler's Fudge striped cookies with roasted marshmallows as a simple 2-ingredient smore. Those are really good and easy. We have also used a Rolo inside a marshmallow, but be careful, the caramel can get wicked hot. That was probably not the best idea, but it tastes really good. The hardest part about smores is trying to get the marshmallow golden brown. For me it's either undercooked or burned to a crisp! Making smores is a good, fun, relatively cheap thing for kids to do on camping adventures.
