Castles are always cool, so we are always down to stop and explore one whenever we see or hear of one. We were visiting nearby Cochem and someone told us to go and explore the ruins at Manderscheid if we had time. Of course we could make time for a cool castle, so we headed on over the next day. The castle itself is in ruins, but some of the rooms are still available to explore. It was only three euro for adults and maybe one or two for kids. You can get a pamphlet that explains the ruins you are looking at as you explore. There are actually two castles right next to each other that are included in the price of admission, but they are on separate grounds and the higher castle requires a bit of a hike.
Points of interest
One of the castles that is in ruin. three euro for each adult to enter. They had a small store and cafe on grounds along with bathrooms. Parking is free.
