I've spent so much time in Spain, but somehow the country's capital always eluded me. I'd stayed along the coast mostly and in the Balearics, but never made it much up to the north. That changed recently as I visited Madrid for the first time, and I was blown away. It's a beautiful city, classically European with prestigious architecture at every turn. Like most, my journey began arriving at Madrid Barajas International Airport. It's a large, but easy to navigate airport and there is a metro stop located directly in terminal four which will connect you to the city center of Madrid in under thirty minutes.
