Lunching at the Carlyle

New York, NY, United States

On our recent trip to New York we were looking for an elegant lunch on OpenTable and settled on a classic New York destination, The Carlyle Restaurant. We've long been fans of the famous Bemelmans Bar, but hadn't had a chance to try the hotel's restaurant. Chef Ron Pietruszka and his team prepare a menu of French accented American cuisine which has to compete with the beautiful art deco dining room with mirrored alcoves and a dramatic six-foot tall floral arrangement. I enjoyed the excellent value of the three-course weekday prix fixe menu for $42 with an excellent started, entree, and dessert.

The braised short rib of fee with roasted peppers was wonderful and filling. (and GF) So good in fact that I forgot to photograph the chocolate ice cream with raspberries served for dessert.
