Things slow down in the foothills of the Swiss Alps in July. That seems incredible to me, as the region is so beautiful in summer, but July really is their quiet season. While hiking through the region, we stopped at the Hotel Klosterli for a bit of lunch. A series of several buildings, the hotel was mostly shut down for summer, with only the restaurant open, as well as, one hotel building. The atmosphere of the place was bucolic, the peace and quiet, disturbed only by our exclamations over the quality of the food. This may be the best time of year to visit this fantastic region.
