Joselito in the library

Amboró, Departamento de Santa Cruz, Bolivia
11 Kudos
Since many of the rural Bolivian kids were just starting to learn to read, and their families usually had very little reading matter on hand, as the parents may well be illiterate too, kids were craving opportunities. We had a small lending library with children’s materials at our home, and it was so popular it came to be a bit of problem with kids dropping by at all hours. So it was necessary to establish regular lending hours when kids could come to pick up or drop off materials, and they were welcome to stay for a time and read. It also afforded opportunities for some tutoring in that and other school work they may be needing help with.
