Normandale community college has a great little Japanese garden tucked away behind the buildings. According to the plaque, it was established back in the 1970s. It's a lovely, peaceful little garden. They've trained the willow trees to the appropriate scale, with beautiful trailing tendrils. The koi fish in the large pond are absolutely huge, and my kids had fun trying to identify different fish and giving them names. We spent some time circling the gardens and appreciating all the nice little touches the landscapers have put here and there. It was a really nice outing, and if we're ever there again we'll be sure to bring quarters for the little machine outside the garden where you can buy a handful of food for the koi.
