From across the small valley, Ait Ben Haddou looks like a movie set, because it was. Several films used it as a backdrop in the past, and since our visit there some years ago, several more films have been made featuring it. When you get a little closer though, some of luster wears off. This is considered the poorer part of town, compared to the more modern village on the valley where I took this photo from. As we toured the streets, we enjoyed the vendors and the buildings that had been restored (probably for a movie shoot) but there were many more buildings that were in questionable shape, but clearly had families living in them.
