I wrote a story earlier about how we stayed in the resort town of Walker, MN around Christmas time one year. We had brought our skates with, thinking we could skate on the frozen Leech lake next to the Hotel, but it wasn’t cleared, so we found the public rink at night and had the whole thing to ourselves. It was a beautiful night for skating and the rink was well cared for, the lights were on and it was cleared. It’s little memories like this that make travel fun. Fun stuff doesn’t always have to cost money. Luckily, Minnesotans are crazy about hockey, so chances are you will always be able to find a rink if you visit MN in the winter.
