During our stay in Maui in February, we stayed part of the time in Wailea at the Fairmont Kea Lani (review to follow!) and part of the time in Kaanapali along the famous Kaanapali beach at the Hyatt Regnency Maui. The Hyatt felt like a Disneyland resort with it's open air lobby and waterfalls. They had lush landscape, beautiful views of the ocean and even penguins on site. There is 2 pools. One is a large pool that connects through a grotto to a swim up bar and then to another pool which is the kids pool. You also have access to the Hyatt Residence next door which is another pool. Highlights include a luau on site. It's called the Drums of Maui, a Ulanani's for shaved ice (our favorite) and a Hyatt regency club which I recommend paying the extra money or points to get free breakfast and evening apps. It saved us a ton of money especially with 2 kids. Maholo!
