Honeymoon Rendevous

Playa del Carmen, Q.R., Mexico

There's nothing better than waking up to the sound of the ocean waves crashing and the seagulls singing. Our trip to Riviera Maya was nothing but amazing. The fresh eucalyptus scent in the lobby and the delectable Mexican chocolate in our presidential suite kitchen, don't even begin to describe the minute details that made this trip one we will remember forever. From the moment we arrived to our resort in Riviera Maya we were greeted with warmth and joy. We were upgraded from the honeymoon suite to the presidential suite completely cost free and soon rushed to dig our toes in the sand for a bit.The trip was pure bliss. But our trip didn't only consist of sitting around the shore watching time pass us by slowly. While in Mexico we went on several excursions and dived deep into the culture of the ancient Mayans. We spent a day in Coba and climbed 137 feet to one of the most beautiful views we've ever seen. We dived deep into a cenote and zip lined across the forest while the sun was setting. A few days later we got to visit Xcaret. A MUST if you go to Mexico. Xcaret is basically the Disney World of Mexico, except the "rides" are all natural thrills. We got to swim through a two mile fresh water river, pet manta ray, go snorkeling, swim with dolphins, and much more. We ended our night at Xcaret with an amazing two-hour production of the history of Mexico. Speaking as a non-history lover this show made me fall in love with the Mexican and Mayan culture. From the food to the people Xcaret was something I would definitely do again. We followed up our adventure at Xcaret with a trip to Xplore. That's where the adventure began. We started our day by driving a buggy through the Mexican forest, then river rafting through caves filled with stalactites, swimming through a freshwater river, zip-lining over the Mexican forest, and we ended our day with a very relaxing canopy zip-line which crossed a water fall and fell into the river. We were exhausted, but we loved every minute we were at the park. Our last few days in Mexico consisted of pure relaxation. We had a couples Swedish massage by the ocean and a honeymoon romantic candlelit dinner by the shore. It was bittersweet to sit by the ocean breeze and just contemplate the romance of the land, but it became a moment engraved in our hearts forever. We can't wait to be back to the place where it all began.

Very interesting. I skipped Excaret when I was in the area. Now I wish I had gone. I didn't realize that it is much more than just commercialized stuff.

@BelfryBat, yes I highly recommend Xcaret, specially for families with kids. They had a beautiful aviary and several other great attractions everyone would enjoy. Just be prepared to swim through freezing cold waters.
