Beaulieu Palace House was originally built in the 13th century as the gatehouse of Beaulieu Abbey. Nowdays it is open to the public as part of the visitor attraction known as "Beaulieu", which includes several buildings, including National Motor Museum. The grounds are large and you can definitely spend half a day here, especially if you like history and mansions. Here history actually comes to life. Whilst we have visited historic houses which seem merely to be a museum to past residents, at Beaulieu there is a true feel for the generations of family that have lived in Palace House. One downside that I want to share -small restaurant that got crowded and food was pricey.
