One of the neatest and most educational places we went on our southeast road trip was Fort Clinch on Amelia Island. It sits at the northern point of the island and you can see over to Cumberland Island in Georgia from up on the wall. You start in the visitor center than proceed to walk across the old bridge into this magnificent old place with tons of history and architectural features. Our favorites were exploring around the tunnels inside the walls and standing up on the deck with the cannons looking out over the Atlantic Ocean. The old soldier rooms and kitchen were really neat too. This is a nice tour and well worth the inexpensive price of admission.
