I decided to take a 3 night side-trip from Singapore to Bali for some adventure and great photo opportunities. I've always seen beautiful pictures of the stacked rice terraces that grace the bright green mountainsides and I knew I'd have to take a day to explore some unspoken villages and gravel roads during my stay.
Since I was traveling with a friend who was familiar with the area, he was able to point me in the right direction, and begrudgingly followed behind me for the day.
There were many friendly, smiling farmers and local villagers. I met lots of new people who were eager to try out their English show me their daily products. The paths between villages and rice fields were long, and at times very short and shallow, so hiking got quite difficult at times, but the sights and experiences were worth it..
I didn't know I would be such a dangerous area though... after showing my photos to the concierge at the hotel I was staying at, was I made aware of the many poisonous snakes and spiders which make home to the mountains I had been hiking in. Ignorance is bliss, I guess!
