We had spent a little time in Lithonia before, but we met up with some birders to hike Arabia Mountain in Georgia recently and had a really great time. This monadnock is a really great place to see hawks and quite the workout. There are a few big stone monadnocks around Atlanta and they are pretty cool. We also explored an area where they used to mine granite before the mountain was turned over to the state. It is kind of neat to think about the history of the area as you climb over these big square cuts of mountain that have been removed. Fortunately, the leader of the hike was well informed about the areas history, so we learned a lot.
