A visit to this fort should be mandatory for any visitor, if just for the view of the city if nothing else. We planned to do a self tour but decided to take advantage of a guide after seeing that it would be a very small group. We are so glad we did, as our guide, Tom, was very entertaining and knowledgeable about the fort and history in general. The tour took about 45 minutes, with live bagpipe music being played in the background. The military museum is excellent, covering WWI to the present. The displays and on-site animators were very interesting and informative. We especially liked the life-size model of WWI trench. A good stop to get information about the importance of the citadel and Halifax to the development of Canada and its protection through the years.
