Visiting Nashville isn't complete without a backstage tour and live performance at the Grand Ole Opry! Having heard about it for years but not knowing anyone who had actually done both it was quite a treat this past May which is a great time to visit. It's hard to believe that it began almost 90 years ago with a fiddle player on November 28, 1925 and has launched the careers of hundreds of country music singers and musicians. Besides being a live show it's also a live radio show on 650AM WSM with commercials! I've never been to a concert where there were commercials in between acts and they were hysterically funny! Just added to the enjoyment of the evening. Besides old timers, Bill Anderson and John Conlee we also saw Crystal Gayle with her long hair down to her calves and numerous groups like Riders in the Sky. If you're not crazy about a certain singer or group, don't worry there will be many more to listen to. So glad I was able to enjoy this icon and the price was very reasonable.
