Fantastic lodging directly off the train and in the Natio...

Glacier National Park is not easy to get to. It was a childhood dream to visit this park and walk on a glacier. As decades passed, more and more glaciers had slowly dissolved and eventually disappear forever. I finally made the trek, flew in to Spokane, Washington, took the train in to Montana, and hiked to the top of the 6500ft high in the sky Grinnell Glacier, one of the few remaining US glaciers. Round trip hike was roughly 11 miles with a steep elevation gain of 2000ft on winding ridge line natural trails. A certain points along the way you can see a waterfall of the melting glacier along the mountainside and a 1000ft below it, a tourquise blue lake.
