One of Lillehammer's main tourist sites is the Norwegian Olympic museum. Located just about a 15-20 minute walk from the Lillehammer train station, this complex is dedicated to Norway's rich history with the games. You will learn about the origins of the Olympic games in general, and then be taken on a walking tour through the country's participation over the last century, culminating in the hosting of the infamous 1994 event. You will also be treated to several mementos from Olympic history, such as torches from all the modern games as well as medals won by Norway. It's not a large museum, and it will be experienced relatively quickly, but if you are a fan of the Olympics its worth stopping by.
