George & Bertie’s is unlike anywhere else. It feels like a cross between an American diner, an old English greasy spoon, a cozy Japanese izakaya, and your going to your grandmother’s house for tea. It’s a classic greasy spoon with low prices and a menu full of comfort food that they do pretty well. The place is diminuitive, and most people sit along a big U-shaped bar, although there are also a few tables and some outdoor seating. I would say this place is worth a detour if you are really into old, local diners (and I am really into old, local diners).
