Fountain of the Pantheon

00186 Rome, Metropolitan City of Rome, Italy
17 Kudos
The Pantheon is obviously the main attraction when you come to the Piazza della Rotonda, but what you see outside in the plaza is pretty cool too. In front of the Pantheon, you will find the Fontana del Pantheon, or in plain old English, the Fountain of the Pantheon. The fountain was originally created in the 1500s and was modified in the 1700s. Then in the 1800s, the originals were taken away and placed in a museum, getting replaced with copies that were less valuable. Today, it seems like most people just sit on its steps and stare at the Pantheon, but this fountain deserves some attention too!
