Oberkirch, BW, Germany
13 Kudos
I first discovered this delicious treat at German Christmas markets and I order some whenever I see it on the menu when we travel in Germany. We were in Baden-Württemberg, exploring the Black Forest area when we found a restaurant with Flammkuchen on the menu. This tastes thin crusted tarte ( or pizza) is usually covered with creme fraîche, onions and lardals, which is a fatty bacon. The onions can be regular old onions, or green onions like you see here. The result is a delicious meal that can be enjoyed during any time of year. Most flammkuchen is huge, but the crust is so thin and crispy, you will have no trouble eating it all yourself

when the virus is gone, you should check out the Alsace region (Elsass)in France. An easy day trip and real Flammkuchen :-)
