I went to Fairbanks during the first week of March, and it felt like it was still the middle of winter! Temperatures averaged between -10 to -40 degrees F, but the views are still really breathtaking. This is the best time of year to see the northern lights, although unfortunately I didn't see them this time. We tried curling during this trip, and went to the outdoor curling event held by the Fairbanks Curling Club. There are also a ton of outdoor things to do even in the winter: cross country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, and downhill skiing. The downtown Fairbanks area is also a fun shopping experience, and you can still experience wildlife in the city limits. We saw a moose walking down the road on the way to the airport on the last day!
