My father lives in Sardinia so every now and then I try and visit. Being winter in Italy it was quite cold so the usual beach offerings were not so appealing. Having never been through the mountains we decided to go for a drive. Starting in Oristano we drove 90 mins north to a large town called Nuoro. From there we headed south adding new destinations to the GPS every half an hour or so. We found ourselves deep in the mountains and occasionally in thick fog. Following some signs we found a short dirt road that took us to a hiking path. The views were stunning and we had everywhere to ourselves. Next time I visit I'd like to explore these hiking paths in the State Park some more.

We found this lookout and picnic table 20 minutes into the forest.
