The title of the story may be a little misleading because there really is not a "downtown" Block Island. One of the features of the island is that it is very relaxed and laid back. The downtown area is cute though, and has many good restaurants to choose from. For an island with about 1000 people, I thought the restaurant selection was great. Probably because of the influx of tourists from mainland. Of course, many of the restaurants specialize in seafood dishes and many have outdoor patios that overlook the ocean. It is sort of hard to get here, but it is definitely worth it.
