Waking early on the morning we were leaving Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we had wanted to get out and walk a bit before continuing on in our epic road trip through many states. We decided to don our exercise gear and get out about the city for an hours’ walk or so before climbing back in the car. The city itself is surrounded by three rivers – the Ohio, Monongahela, and the Allegheny – two of which flow together to form the third. Pittsburg is located at a peninsula where the confluence occurs. Our walk along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail (while partially under construction) was a welcome and beautiful diversion to a windshield view.
