After a super easy (about one hour) train ride from our hotel in Shibuya, we spent a couple hours exploring beautiful and historic Kamakura. There are so many Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines in this town, I feel like we only just scratched the surface, despite spending the whole day in town.
Highlights include: -Humongous Buddha statue at the Temple of the Great Buddha. Pictures don't do it justice really. I walked around the corner and gasped when I saw how huge it was! And you can see his huge flip-slop on display too. And go inside the statue for a small fee! -Delicious food: even though the downtown area seemed a little touristy, we still had super delicious tempura rice bowls for lunch. Still dreaming of them to this day! -Teeny tiny statues inside a cave at a different temple
All in all, awesome day trip from and awesome city (Tokyo!!) that I would 100% recommend!
