Culloden Battlefield is located just outside Inverness, Scotland. It is the site of a battle in 1746 between the British army and the Jacobite army. In less than an hour, over 1500 people were killed on this battlefield. There are many graves and headstones here because most of the fallen were buried on the battlefield. There is an eerie silence that sort of hangs over the space, making it a somber, but beautiful visit. We were lucky that not many tourists were there the day we visited, so we had almost the entire place to ourselves, making it even more special.
