Flag
Bernalillo, New Mexico, Is a suburb of Albuquerque. Hidden just within the city limits is a unique treasure, the Coronado Historic Site - or the Ancient Ruins of Kuaua Pueblo. This site backs right up to a modern 18 hole golf course on one side, and the Rio Grande River flows through on the other. If you do not know the historic site is back here you will miss it. As you enter the park area you will see the excavated ruins behind a log fence on the left. There is a very nice museum and visitor center in an adobe building and the fee to visit for the day is only five dollars per person. You are also able to walk around the surrounding grounds and look at the natural gardens, and enjoy the Rio Grande down below from beneath one of the shaded picnic pavilion’s. There is also a modern bathroom facility.
